Dubai Visa from Pakistan: Types, Documents and Process

The most accessible major visa available to Pakistani passport holders — here is how it works and what to avoid.

For most Pakistani travellers, the UAE is the first international trip — and the visa is a large part of why. There is no interview, no appointment in most cases, and processing is usually a matter of days.

Visa types

  • 30-day tourist visa — the standard short holiday visa, single entry.
  • 60-day tourist visa — for longer stays or visiting family.
  • Multiple-entry visas — for travellers entering and leaving repeatedly.
  • Transit visa — for short stopovers, typically 48 or 96 hours.
  • Business visit visa — for meetings and trade travel, sponsored by a UAE entity.

Validity periods and categories are adjusted from time to time by the UAE authorities, so confirm the current options for your travel dates.

How the sponsorship works

UAE tourist visas are sponsor-linked. The sponsor is typically an airline, a hotel or a licensed travel agency, and they carry responsibility for the applicant's compliance with the visa conditions. This is why the documentation, while lighter than for Europe, is applied consistently — the sponsor is accountable for it.

Documents required

  • Clear colour scan of the passport bio page, with at least six months validity
  • Recent photograph on a white background meeting the specification
  • CNIC copy
  • Confirmed return air ticket
  • Hotel booking confirmation
  • Bank statement, where requested for the category
The most common delay

Poor scans and non-compliant photographs. A blurred passport scan or a photo with a patterned background gets rejected and resubmitted, adding days to what should be a fast process. Scan properly the first time.

Processing time

Electronic tourist visas are generally processed within a few working days when the documents are in order. Applications with unclear scans or specification failures take longer because they must be corrected and resubmitted. Public holidays in the UAE also affect processing.

Extensions and overstay

Extensions are possible for certain categories, subject to immigration approval and fees, and must be applied for before the current visa expires. Overstaying carries daily fines that accumulate, and an overstay record affects future applications to the UAE and can be visible to other missions.

If your plans change while you are there, deal with it before the expiry date rather than after.

Why a UAE visa is worth having on your record

For travellers building towards a harder application — the UK, Schengen, the US — a clean UAE travel history genuinely helps. It demonstrates that you travelled internationally, complied with the conditions, and returned on time. That is exactly the pattern those missions look for.
